Welcome to Trinity Lutheran Church!
Trinity Evangelical Church was incorporated in 1840 as The German Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church of Rondout New York. Trinity was established by German immigrants who settled in the Rondout and worked in the industries sustained by River Commerce. From its beginning, Trinity had both an English and German day school. The first building was on the corner of Hunter and Ravine Streets. The present building was dedicated 18 July 1875. The building is 109 x 56. The spire is 160 feet high. The total cost of the ground and building was $45,000. The pipe organ was a gift of the Ladies Aid Society and cost $2500. The interior of the sanctuary has been well kept. The interior was last redecorated in 1996. We have continued the tradition of grand Victorian decoration. As a result, the interior is a delight to the eye. All the color and light directs one's attention to the altar. Please visit our Church Interior Page for pictures of our church. Trinity owes a debt to the community. First to the Rondout Presbyterian Church which provided a place for the immigrant community to worship while they were being organized and building their first home. To Trinity Methodist which housed the congregation through much of the time following the fire which destroyed the Ravine Street building. Always to God who has prevailed. So this magnificent old building reaches its spire to heaven and declares THANK YOU! TO GOD ALONE BE THE GLORY. Kingston, New York is rich in historical significance.
